As sport plays an integral role in any irish club.The AFIL is setting up the Lyon's first official men and women's gaelic football team. The Lugdunum CLG (name of the gaelic football team of the AFIL) is affiliated to GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) and to ECB (European County Board).
Training:
They continue every saturday morning (10am at rugby field in La Doua) and monday evenings (8pm - Stade Henri Cochet, 9, rue François Peissel 69300 Caluire-et-Cuire). All are welcome !
Gaelic Football rules:
Gaelic Football is playing by team of 15 players with a round ball on a pitch of 145 meters by 90 meters. The goals are in « H » form. The player scores one point when he hits the ball above the transverse and between the goalpost, and three points when he hits the ball in the goal protected by the goalkeeper. There is two half time of 30 or 35 minutes for the professionnals.
the match begins by a "betwen two" with two players of each team in the center of the pitch. During all the match, there is no offside. A team is composed by one goalkeeper, Three defenders, three defender midfields, two midfields, three offensive midfields and three attackers.
To play gaelic Football, you need to knwo four mouvements :
- The « hand-passed »
- The « pick-up »
- The « solo »
- The « tackle »
- To do a "hand-passed", you have to hit the ball and not throwing. You have to put the ball on one hand and hit him with the other hand.
- When the ball is rolling on the field, it's prohibited to take it with the hands or other parts of the body except the foot. To take the ball you have to do a pick-up. bend your legs and place your hand in front of the ball and then shoot him to keep him on your hand.
- A player can move with the ball during four steps, which mean that a player who stay immobile for a four steps time, he's doing a technical fault. To be able to do another four steps, you have to do a « solo » which means juggling with the ball or doing a bounce on the ground. But two bounces ares prohibited.
- To intercept a player who have the ball, you have to hit the ball withe an open hand without hiting the player (or pushing him...)
