Hello all, the cinema club is back up and running!
La Maison des Européens have a new office with a handy little space that we can use to project films in. The address of the new venue is Collège Graphique, 13 rue de Flesselles, 69001 LYON. There should be parking space on the street and it is of course accessible by TCL. For our inaugural evening the jury has selected a film set in the great city of Cork, ‘The Young Offenders’.
For those who haven’t seen it, the story follows the scrapes of two cheeky langers with enough attitude to bottle and sell, who spend their time getting into trouble and trying to be kept out of it by their mam and a long-suffering garda on a bike.
The film takes you around the streets of Cork city along with some of its crooked citizens and their cocky lilt but also heads briefly into the beautiful countryside of West Cork where one of the plot twists takes us. It was directed by Peter Foott and received some pretty rave reviews when it came out in 2016, spawning a spin-off series on RTE and the BBC.
Please come and join us on Thursday the 12th of November at 7:30pm to check out the new space and have a few laughs. We’re starting a little earlier than usual so as to have a little more time afterwards for a chat. Drinks and nibbles will be provided as usual after the event. See you there hopefully!
